If the box is polished, the box will reflect most of the heat from the engine compartment. Read the old Chrysler tuning books on mounting their scoops in relation to the carb(s). Forcing air to go certain ways in front of the carb can make big changes. With a box, the deal is more like a carb under the hood.īy the way, some of the guys with scoops fight the carb calibration for months after they get away from the under hood deal. This means mapping all 8 cylinders though. ![]() Put it on a good dyno with wide band capability, find the right tune-up and leave it alone. Like messing with timing in big changes, you play around with a high hp engine and you replace a lot of parts. I know that the typical "Blow Thru Board" guys love the Hats but with proper tuning at some point you wind up getting the tune-up right using the box and then how often do you change the jetting on your street car 68 GTO from Cliff Ruggles?
